Within the Geopark, it encompasses the area of Chaliki and Anthousa, with Verliga glacial plateau and the Rona springs of Aspropotamos (Acheloos). The ora includes a multitude of rare and protected species found in the wider Pindos region. The bare rock formations that are found everywhere on the mountain are ideal nesting sites for many species of birds. A few vultures still live in Lakmos, while a few years ago, Egyptian vultures also lived there. Of the raptors here live golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos), snake eagles, There are several amphibian species such as the alpine newt, the Macedonian newt, the salamander, the toad, the yellow-bellied toad, the gray frog and the swift frog. The reptile fauna includes one of the most important and rarest snakes in Greece, the Greek dwarf viper (Vipera graeca) which lives on the rocks and in the meadows, above 1,400 meters.
