From Byzantine archives and oral descriptions, it is believed that the monastery flourished even before the 13th century. Much later, in 1830, the monastery (old monastery) was rebuilt in its current location by the hieromonk Damaskinos and his brother Charalambos.   <\/p>\n<p>It is documented that the church was adorned in 1842 and underwent renovation in 1892. According to an inscription, the wall paintings were executed in 1894 by a workshop originating from the Katsanochoria region. The monastery was abandoned in 1964.
