{"id":9670,"date":"2026-09-16T16:08:05","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T13:08:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meteorapyligeopark.gr\/events\/adopt-a-geosite-at-the-6th-festival-of-traditional-dances-and-cultural-events\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T16:08:05","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T13:08:05","slug":"adopt-a-geosite-at-the-6th-festival-of-traditional-dances-and-cultural-events","status":"publish","type":"mec-events","link":"https:\/\/www.meteorapyligeopark.gr\/en\/events\/adopt-a-geosite-at-the-6th-festival-of-traditional-dances-and-cultural-events\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cAdopt a Geosite\u201d at the 6th Festival of Traditional Dances and Cultural Events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its activities for <strong>World Cleanup Day<\/strong>, the Meteora\u2013Pyli Geopark will participate on <strong>Sunday, 20 September 2026<\/strong>, in the <strong>6th Festival of Traditional Dances and Cultural Events of the Associations of the Municipality of Meteora<\/strong>, which will take place in the courtyard of the 1st Primary School of Kalabaka at <strong>19:00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, the <strong>\u201cAdopt a Geosite\u201d<\/strong> initiative will be presented, inviting cultural and dance associations from across the Municipality of Meteora to strengthen their connection with the places they represent and to contribute actively to the protection and promotion of local geosites.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is based on the idea that a place\u2019s cultural heritage is inseparably linked to the natural and geological landscape within which local communities have developed and shaped their identity.<\/p>\n<p>Participating associations will be able to take an active role in activities related to the cleaning, monitoring and promotion of geosites, while also acting as <strong>Geopark Ambassadors<\/strong> within their local communities. They will be promoted as partners and supporters of the Geopark, while their voluntary contribution will be recognised and acknowledged. <\/p>\n<p>The aim is to establish a lasting network of cooperation between the Geopark and local cultural associations, with particular emphasis on the participation of local communities in caring for and protecting our shared heritage.<\/p>\n<p>The action in Kalabaka is one of two events through which the Meteora\u2013Pyli Geopark is marking World Cleanup Day this year.
