Public Consultation Meeting on the ITI of the Meteora-Pyli Geopark Held in the Municipality of Pyli<\/strong><\/p>\n

The scheduled public consultation event on the development of the Operational Plan for the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI)<\/strong> of the Meteora-Pyli Geopark<\/strong> was successfully held today, Holy Tuesday, 15 April 2025<\/strong>, at the Pyli Town Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The event saw strong participation from the local community, with numerous citizens, institutional representatives, and local business actors in attendance. The Deputy Regional Governor<\/strong> of Trikala, Ms. Chrysa Ntinti,<\/strong> and the Mayor of Pyli<\/strong> Mr. Konstantinos Maravas <\/strong>, honored the event with their presence and, in their opening remarks, highlighted the significance of the ITI for the Meteora-Pyli Geopark area.<\/p>\n

Ms. Aikaterini Pouliou<\/strong>, an official of the Special Management Service of the Region of Thessaly, presented the institutional framework of the ITI. Mr. Nikos Pitsoulis<\/strong>, technical advisor of the Region of Thessaly, outlined the key development axes of the ITI. These axes focus on the sustainable development of the area<\/strong> through the protection of its natural and cultural heritage, the strengthening of local entrepreneurship, and the improvement of residents\u2019 quality of life. Additionally journalist Mr. Giannis Giannakopoulos <\/strong> presented the interim findings of the ongoing research on branding the Geopark.<\/p>\n

The event served as an open platform for dialogue and exchange of views<\/strong> with the local community. The main objective of the consultation is the active involvement of citizens<\/strong> and local stakeholders in shaping the strategic plan, through the collection of needs, ideas, and proposals<\/strong> that will inform the Integrated Strategic Plan <\/strong>of the Meteora-Pyli Geopark ITI. Particular attention was given during the discussion to the issue of installing Renewable Energy Sources (RES) units within the Geopark. The local community expressed concerns and voiced a strong desire for the Geopark to be designated as a protected area, with a complete ban on such installations. <\/p>\n
