Gomfoi Trail – “On the Paths of Our Ancestors”
The 3rd Gomfoi Trail race “On the Paths of Our Ancestors” is happening on Sunday, October 5th, 2025!
The Cultural and Educational Association “OI GOMFOI”, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pyli and under the auspices of the Region of Thessaly – Regional Unit of Trikala, are co-organizing the 3rd semi-mountainous Gomfoi Trail race, “On the Paths of Our Ancestors,” on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, in the wider area of the Local Community of Gomfoi, Trikala.
The aim of the event is to highlight the natural beauty, historical and cultural heritage of the ancient civilisation of Gomfoi, to promote volunteerism, and to foster fair play. We invite all our fellow citizens, athletes, and nature enthusiasts to participate in any way in this endeavour.
The event includes two semi-mountainous races and one children’s race.
The routes are as follows:
- Route “Ancient Gomfoi”: distance of 20 km with an elevation gain of +550 m.
- Route “Philip II”: distance of 7 km with an elevation gain of +100 m.
- Route “Karpios Dionysos”: 1000 m race for our young friends and athletes.
All routes start and finish at the central square of Gomfoi, moving along the foothills of the mountain through trails, forest, and rural roads.
