Mushroom Festival

The Meteora Museum of Natural History and Mushroom Museum organizes every year a Mushroom Festival in Kalambaka. This celebration aims to highlight and make known to the general public the nutritional and therapeutic value of mushrooms, their health benefits, but also to lead to the discovery of new taste experiences offered by the abundance of edible wild mushrooms that exist in our country.

For this purpose, and always in the context of the festival, seminars on mushroom identification, mushroom collection and identification, truffle hunting, concerts, cultural events, activities for children, etc.

The highlight of these events is the big mushroom cooking, where 10-15 chefs offer visitors thousands of portions of mushrooms cooked in various ways.

It is a great celebration, awarded at the TourismAwards 2019, in which thousands of people from all over Greece participate, with free entry, and everything is offered for FREE.

It is a social contribution of the Museum, but also an important way of presenting its aims and objectives.
