More than 250 children participated in the Meteora–Pyli Geopark’s public event in the central squares of the municipalities for the Waste Cleanup Day.
What began as a cleanup turned into a celebration, as hundreds of schoolchildren from Pyli and Meteora joyfully took part in the action organized by the Meteora–Pyli Geopark on the occasion of the UNESCO-established World Waste Cleanup Day.
Primary school and kindergarten students from Pyli and Meteora gathered on Friday morning and cleaned the central squares of Pyli and Kalabaka, delivering a powerful message about clean cities and civic engagement. More than 250 pupils participated in the event in both towns, filling the central squares with smiles as they contributed to the work of the municipal services.
Above all, they spread the message of clean cities, actively participating in the initiatives of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network as part of a global community that promotes unique geomorphology, history, and culture.
The event was attended by the Mayors of Pyli and Meteora, Mr. Maravas and Mr. Avramopoulos, the Director of Primary Education of Trikala, Mr. Ch. Trikalis, as well as municipal councillors and local citizens, all proud to witness the new generation embracing ecology and community contribution.
Participating schools included the Primary and Kindergarten of Pyli, as well as the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Primary Schools of Kalabaka.
