Photographing the indigenous populations of the Geopark

The winners of the amateur photography competition are presented at an event on Saturday 4 October in Gavro Meteora

The winners of the Photography Contest organized by the Meteora – Pyli Geopark in the framework of the celebration of the World Indigenous People’s Day will be announced at a special event to be held on Saturday, October 4, at the Monument of St. Theodosius in Gavro Meteora.

The photography competition was organized by the Meteora Gate Geopark in the framework of the World Indigenous Peoples Day and amateur photographers from the Photography Clubs of Trikala, Larissa and Magnesia took part in it. A total of 47 photographs with stories of people from the Geopark areas were submitted, which highlight the influence of geological formations, culture and history on people’s lives.

The evaluation of the photographs was undertaken by an artistic committee consisting of the presidents of the Professional Photographers’ Associations of the Prefectures of Trikala, Larissa and Magnesia, which selected the three best photographs that win the prizes of the Competition, as well as the symbolic cash prizes that accompany each prize:
1st Prize: 300€ cash prize
2nd Prize: 200€ cash prize
3rd Prize: 100€ cash prize

The awards and prizes will be presented at a special event that will take place on Saturday, October 4, at the Monydrio of Ag. Theodosius Gavros in Meteora at 17.00 where the winners of the competition and the winning photos will be presented.

The winners, as well as the Photography Clubs that participated in the competition, will be awarded the title of Ambassador of the Geopark.

On the same day, the spectacular event of the Balloon Flight will start at the same spot and will offer a unique experience to the participants.
