The Meteora – Pyli Geopark concludes the celebration of the World Indigenous Peoples Day
In a festive atmosphere beneath the historic Monydrio of St. Theodosios in Gavros, Meteora, the awards ceremony for the Photography Competition organized by the Meteora – Pyli Geopark took place on Saturday afternoon, as part of the World Indigenous Peoples Day celebration.
The competition featured artistic submissions from members of the Photography Clubs of Trikala, Larissa, and Volos, with a total of 43 high-quality photographs submitted. Among them, three photographs were awarded distinctions and monetary prizes: 1st Prize (€300): Athanasios Spanias, Trikala Photography Club, 2nd Prize (€200): Dimitris Palis, Larissa Photography Club, 3rd Prize (€100): Eleftheria Karasmanoglou, Volos Photography Club
The winners were selected by an artistic committee composed of the presidents of the three Professional Photographers’ Associations of Trikala, Larissa, and Magnesia: Vasso Oikonomou, Dimitris Gousgkounis, and Iasonas Paliougas, respectively.
The awards were presented during the special ceremony organized by the Geopark on Saturday, October 4, in the stunning outdoor setting of St. Theodosios in Gavros, by the Deputy Mayors of Meteora, Mr. Fotis Karathanasis and Mr. Athanasios Karapetsas, along with the President of the Larissa Photography Club, D. Gkontikoulis.
As a token of appreciation, all three participating photography clubs were honored with the symbolic title of “Geopark Ambassador.”
