In the morning, the children of the Primary School and the Kindergarten of Ligaria were presented by the Geopark team, its role in the region, the Earth and the importance of living on our planet, as well as our obligations towards Mother Earth. With the help of the student-ambassador of the Meteora-Pyli Geopark at the school of Ligaria, we showed actions that every person can and should do in their daily lives that can contribute to the preservation and protection of “Mother Earth”. Afterwards, the children played games on the theme of recycling and protecting the planet and were awarded the “Diploma of the Best Protector of the Earth” and commemorative medals.
In the second part of the celebration, with the help of the Football Club of the Pigi Community and volunteers, a symbolic tree planting took place in the surrounding area of the Community’s stadium. The event was honored with the presence of the representatives of the Municipality of Pyli, Mr. Plastiras – Deputy Mayor and Mr. Kerasiotis – President of Pigi, of the Region of Thessaly, Mr. Kolios – Regional Councilor and Mr. Trikalis – Director of Primary Education, and the President of the AO Pigi, Mr. Argyris. The Meteora Geopark of Pyli warmly thanks the teachers of the Public School and Kindergarten of Ligaria and the president of the AO Pigi for their participation in the action.
