It is the newest ski center in Greece (2012) and is located at an altitude of 1650 – 1850 meters. The western part of the ski resort belongs to Epirus (Metsovo Municipality) while the eastern slopes of the ski resort are located within the Meteora – Pylis Geopark (Meteora Municipality). It is accessible via the Egnatia Highway and Anilio, while there is also a dirt road that connects the ski resort with the Katara Pass and Road via a scenic route. The various rocks and formations that we encounter in the Anilio ski resort area are mapped as a series of different units, part of the Pindos Ophiolite Complex. These units (Avdella, Aspropotamos, Dramala) are placed as tectonic scales on top of the Pindos flysch formation (sandstones, clay shales). The absence of vegetation due to altitude allows us to observe the stratigraphy of the formations on the slopes and in the deep ravines of the streams. A large part of the eastern slopes is covered by old and new landslides that continue to shape the unique relief.
