Koziakas Perimetric Route

tarting from Pyli, this route takes you on a full circuit around Mount Koziakas (Kerketio), offering a wide variety of landscapes and experiences. Much of the route roughly follows the Koziakas Thrust Geosite, a major fault line where the geological formations of Koziakas have been thrust over the formations of the Pindos Zone. From Elati and the Pertouli Meadows, many hiking and mountaineering trails begin, leading to important geosites at the mountain’s peaks, such as Trypio Lithari (Pierced Rock), Voliotis Sinkhole, and the Cave of Bei. Almost the entire Koziakas mountain is part of the Natura 2000 protected environmental zone.
After Chrysomilia, the route enters the lush and scenic Palaiochori Valley, continuing north. After Diava, travelers encounter a steep, winding ascent toward the village of Koromilia, built near the summit of Koziakas, as well as the striking Kontena Waterfall near the chapel of Agia Paraskevi.
