In the square of Gardiki is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is the central church of the village, in the style of a basilica with a dome, built of stone, around 1700, on the site of an older church. Later, the bell tower was added to the courtyard. The village’s cathedral operates every Sunday in the summer and celebrates on August 15. The unique and remarkable wooden carved altartemple, the holy pulpit and the Despotiko were painted in 1843 and the icons in 1898. The frescoes of the church were destroyed during World War II and were replaced in 1982.
