The Korydallos waterfall is located approximately 2 kilometers before the village of Korydallos, Kalambaka. Access to the waterfall is via a dirt road/path downhill from the main road of Kalambaka – Ioannina. It is a double waterfall with two rock pools and has been formed within limestone layers of the Flysch formation of the Pindos zone. The Flysch of Pindos can locally display major lithological variations, from soft layers of argillaceous shale to sandstone benches and limestone beds. These local variations can create abrupt changes in the bed of small streams and torrents, creating the waterfalls. Karst erosion and the action of water on water-soluble limestone rocks creates the characteristic rock pools.
