On Friday, September 4, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., Ludovikos of Anogia will give a concert at Theopetra Park, across from the Theopetra Cave Documentation and Education Center, organized by the Municipality of Meteora.
The concert, titled “The Culture of Stone,” is the culmination of a two-day series of events dedicated to the protection of the Meteora–Pili Geopark.
The title was not chosen at random. The geological formations of the Meteora-Pili Geopark were formed over millions of years. On top of them, people have built, carved, and created. But they could be destroyed in a single generation if we do not protect them. That is the message of this two-day event. The musical tradition carried on by Loukovikos of Anogia was born in the same way: from people’s interaction with a harsh, mountainous landscape.
The concert kicks off a two-day event that was not conceived as a spectacle, but as an invitation to participate. Those who spend these days on the trails and at the geosites of the Geopark will gather at the same venue on Friday evening, and this continuity is the goal.
“We wanted the two-day event to begin with music rather than speeches. This place isn’t protected just by studies and regulations; it’s protected when the people who live here feel that it belongs to them. Friday night is one such moment,” said Lefteris Avramopoulos, Mayor of Meteora.
Ludovikos of Anogia is accompanied by a unique musical ensemble featuring Marina Dakanali on vocals, Dimitris Karamouzas on guitar, Manolis Bardani on harmonica, and Sofia Mavrogenidou on flute. A special highlight of the evening will be the appearance of actress Emmanuela Margioula, who will perform the monologue “The Complaint of Arethusa.”
