Public event on Tuesday, September 29, in celebration of World Tourism Day
To mark World Tourism Day, the Meteora–Pili Geopark is organizing the event “Geotourism Development and Local Partnerships,” on Tuesday, September 29, in Kalambaka, with the aim of providing information and fostering meaningful dialogue with professionals and businesses active in tourism and, more broadly, in the Geopark region.
At the heart of the meeting is a key question: How can the Geopark create new opportunities for local businesses?
The Geopark is not merely a collection of geological and natural landmarks. It is a place where the natural and cultural environment, hospitality, cuisine, recreational activities, local products, and the people of the region come together to form its unique identity and can create a comprehensive and authentic experience for visitors.
The event will highlight the opportunities that geotourism creates for the region, with a particular focus on linking the Geopark to local businesses and the local community.
At the same time, the meeting aims to serve as a starting point for closer cooperation and networking between the Geopark and stakeholders in the tourism industry, so that the region’s unique identity can be translated into experiences and services that offer value to both visitors and the region itself.
The Municipality of Meteora and the Municipality of Pyli are extending an open invitation to businesses and professionals directly or indirectly involved in tourism—accommodations, restaurants, travel agencies, tour guides, activity and experience providers, local product businesses, as well as local organizations—to participate in the event.
The active participation of people who interact with visitors to the region on a daily basis and the exchange of views with them are particularly important for establishing a common direction and partnerships that can strengthen geotourism, create real added value for the local economy and society, and contribute to the region’s sustainable development.
The event will take place at the Center for the Digital Promotion of the History and Culture of Meteora, Patriarch Dimitrios & Nik. Plastiras, Kalambaka, at 6:30 p.m. and will conclude at 8:30 p.m. Following the opening remarks and presentations by the speakers, there will be a discussion with the companies and an exchange of views.
