The Monastery of Saint George (Myrofillo) is located on a hill south of the village of Myro above the bed of the Acheloos (Aspropotamos) river. It was built in 1618 on the ruins, according to tradition, of an old church of Sotiros and the monastery of Panagia Mirokovos (< 1336). The new monastery was built by the hieromonk Kosmas (1836). It was completely destroyed by the earthquake of May 1, 1967. After 1982 it was restored, while in 2016, restoration work was carried out. The monastery complex consists of a large four-sided fortified enclosure, which one enters through a pillar. Inside the enclosure we find the church of the Virgin Mary with the chapel of the Taxiarches.
